This book studies Abraham’s journey in faith, his wanderings in the desert, searching for the Almighty while seeking pasture for his flocks. When God appears to Abraham in dreams and visions, he cannot resist His call. He grows in faith accepting God’s will and obeying Him. God indicated the direction. It was Abraham, certain that God had something special in mind for him, who would come to know the individual stages of his journey. Every human life is a journey. If we have faith and listen, God’s voice can be heard today. The moment the Almighty approaches each of us is a revelation. If we respond as Abraham did, our lives will be changed forever. Josef Imbach was born in Switzerland in 1945 and studied philosophy and theology in Rome. After some years of teaching theology at Lucerne he was asked to join the faculty of St. Bonaventure Pontifical University in Rome where since 1975 he has been professor of fundamental theology.

“You only have to listen to the Almighty once to become aware of your duty forever—and there can be no turning back. For His call is as loud and wild as drums in the night. Abraham never became accustomed to the sound of His voice. Even in sleep there was no escape. God haunted his dreams; His call echoed through the darkness.”
